Yoga Retreat 2019

WEEK 1 • Yoga and Ayurveda: July 1-7, 2019
WEEK 2 • Yoga and Bhakti: July 8-14, 2019

Join us in Almvik, Sweden!

The retreat consists of two weeks, with separate themes. The unifying feature in both weeks is that we start the days with yoga practice, and end the days with kirtan, chanting of sacred mantras.

Our yoga sessions will be taught by Jani Jaatinen and Janne Kontala. You can participate in Jani's vinyasa type of practice, or Janne's slow yoga approach. Both practices require some background, so this part of the program is not suitable if you are just starting your yoga practice. You don't have to have an extensive background, though. It is enough that you are willing to challenge yourself, and follow the instructions of these two experienced teachers.

The first week is dedicated to ayurveda, the ancient art of health and well-being. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga, and it is likely to answer most of the questions about how to incorporate the principles of yoga to your life outside the mat. We will get guidance by one of the foremost exponents of the traditional science on earth, Kaviraj Partap Chauhan.

The second week is focused on bhakti, the most devotional and spiritual side of yoga. With its rich and comprehensive experiential dimension, bhakti is truly the heart of yoga. The most important of human needs is to feel connected to a reality greater than ourselves. Bhakti is meant to bring us directly in contact with the divine. We will explore the most important ideas and practices of bhakti, centering around the use of the sacred sound. Jani and Janne will share their knowledge on bhakti, following the succession of spiritual teachers.
